Update: Kickstarter Invite Received!
Thanks to a reader's generosity, I can kick off phase one of my project! Many more details to come...
In the meantime, I'll leave you with this image of a watermelon I found via a creative commons search. "A watermelon?" you ask. Yes, a watermelon. One that will shake the beliefs of a family to their core and fundamentally alter the life of a little boy. Stay tuned to find out more about this story and its two companions, part of my forthcoming urban legends project!

i'm also looking for an invite -- do you have any more to give out per chance? thanks! :)
Hi Jessica,
Love to help you out. What's your email?
Thanks so much -- I really appreciate it! The best email to use is jess@thelongitude.com... Please also let me know when your project is up; I'd love to see it and help out :)
That watermelon with birdie atop reminds me of Neruda's "Ode to a Watermelon." Here's an excerpt:
Water jewel box, placid
queen
of the fruit market
cellar
of depths, earthly
moon.
oh pure
in your abundance,
you melt into rubies
and one
would love to
bite into you
sinking
one's face
hair
and soul
into you.
It's a gorgeous poem, filled with the language of wonder and the curiosities of childhood.
I'm a photographer/poet with a book length series of images ready to go. Any chance of teasing out an invite?
